This Past Week's Highlights!

1) Hollywood took a big poop onto a movie screen and called it Watchmen. Went to see it at its midnight IMAX premiere - best part? The company and the popcorn.

2) Great brunch at Maracas in the West Village with my favorite girls: eggs, chips and salsa, unlimited frozen margaritas and eye-humping cute gay boys. Kinda like Sex in the City, except way more gross and offensive.

3) Bought the second trade paperback of The Sword: Water and regretted it immediately after the first few pages. I think V for Vendetta has ruined me for life - now I'm bored by the light, crisp comic notes over the deep, dark, intelligent sentiments.

4) Went to my first Comic Book Club at the Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) and had a fantastic time. I plan on making this a Tuesday night ritual - and you should too. The last show featured folks from SMITH Mag's "Next-Door Neighbor" Webcomix (http://www.smithmag.net/nextdoorneighbor), my most favorites!

5) Discovered Doctor Who and have watched the first three episodes via Netflix "Watch Instantly" - best thing ever. And Doctor Who is hilarious and creepy. And, alright, Christopher Eccleston's kind of hawt (ahem, would make a great Joker successor, dontcha think?).

The Comic Impact WATCHMEN REVIEW Podcast - featuring moi!

Remember that time I said I was going to write a Watchmen movie review? Yeah, I lied. Instead, I joined the Comic Impact team for their weekly podcast - this time, to dish (and dis) on the new comic book-influenced flick.

Okay, so this is a LONG podcast, there's a lot of nit-picking, dwelling and a potty-mouth (you know who you are!), and it's riddled with SPOILERS. I also interrupt the others quite frequently - cause, well, I'm kinda a bitch. But, hell, listen anyway.

Better Late Than Never, Right? The "I Saw You..." Book Signing with Julia Wertz in Brooklyn!

In celebration of the newly-released Julia Wertz-edited comics collection I Saw You...: Comics Inspired by Real-Life Missed Connections, Desert Island, a sweet indie comic store in Brooklyn, hosted a book-signing a couple of weeks ago for all the friends and fans of this amassing of hilarity.

In case you're one of those n00bs who happen to read my blog, Julia Wertz is the genius behind the hard-to-say-because-I'm-giggling title Fart Party, the hilarious, quirky autobio of a misplaced San Franciscoan in New York (check it out here, and of course pick up a copy at FPNYC).

Despite the barrage of hipster-types in attendance (and who am I too judge, really?), the signing went swimmingly, and the contributors seemed both pleased and slightly buzzed from the free beer.

And,*ahem*, did I mention I received my very own Missed Connection on Craigslist just last month? I feel so desired.
